Among these, the story of Siyavash is considered one of the most tragic and symbolic narratives of this epic. Given the humanistic psychology approach in explaining humans" innate capacities for growth and meaning-making in life, this study aims to analyze Siyavash’s character and fate based on the principles of this school, particularly Abraham Maslow’s core concept of "self-actualization." The main question is whether Siyavash achieved this transcendent stage when facing complex life challenges. METHODOLOGY: This research was conducted using a descriptive-analytical method with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through direct and selective study of the verses narrating Siyavash’s story in the Shahnameh and analyzed based on the theoretical framework of humanistic psychology (theories of Maslow, Rogers, and Frankl). The criterion for assessment was the systematic alignment of Siyavash’s behaviors, speeches, and decisions with the seven main components of self-actualization: ethical behavior, creativity, responsibility, free will, realism, problem-solving ability, and enjoyment of life. FINDINGS: The analyses indicate that after receiving balanced upbringing under Rostam’s care and having his basic needs met, Siyavash naturally entered the path of transcendental growth. In all decisive crises (from rejecting Sudabeh’s proposal and voluntarily passing through fire to choosing peace and accepting martyrdom), he consistently acted based on authenticity, wisdom, and moral conscience, clearly demonstrating the seven components. His psychological conflicts were not only obstacles to progress but also dynamic drivers for achieving his true self and adhering to higher values. CONCLUSION: Based on the findings, Siyavash is a prominent example of a self-actualized individual in humanistic psychology. By overcoming environmental pressures, he consciously and responsibly chose his moral path, reaching the highest level of personality perfection. His martyrdom was not a sign of failure, but rather the peak of spiritual transcendence and the full manifestation of his latent human potentials.زمینه و هدف: شاهنامۀ فردوسی به عنوان گنجینه ای بی‌بدیل از فرهنگ ایرانی، حاوی قهرمانانی است که بازتاب‌دهندۀ آرمانهای اخلاقی و روانشناسانۀ جامعۀ خود هستند. در این میان، داستان سیاوش از تراژیکترین و نمادینترین روایتهای این حماسه به شمار میرود. با توجه به رویکرد روانشناسی انسانگرا در تبیین ظرفیتهای ذاتی انسان برای رشد و معنابخشی به زندگی، هدف این پژوهش تحلیل شخصیت و سرنوشت سیاوش بر اساس اصول این مکتب، به ویژه مفهوم محوری «خودشکوفایی» آبراهام مزلو است. پرسش اصلی آن است که آیا سیاوش در مواجهه با چالشهای پیچیدۀ زندگی به مرحلۀ متعالی خودشکوفایی دست یافته است یا خیر. روشها: این پژوهش با روش توصیفی-تحلیلی و رویکرد کیفی انجام شده است. داده ها از طریق مطالعۀ مستقیم و گزینشی ابیات روایت سیاوش در شاهنامه گردآوری و با تکیه بر چارچوب نظری روانشناسی انسانگرا (نظریات مزلو، راجرز و فرانکل) تحلیل شد. معیار سنجش، تطبیق نظام‌مند رفتارها، گفتارها و تصمیمات سیاوش با هفت مؤلفه اصلی خودشکوفایی شامل رفتار اخلاقی، خلاقیت، مسئولیت‌پذیری، اراده آزاد، واقعگرایی، توانایی حل مسئله و لذت بردن از زندگی بوده است. یافته ها: تحلیلها نشان میدهد سیاوش پس از تربیت متعادل در دامان رستم و تأمین نیازهای پایه ای، به طور طبیعی وارد مسیر رشد متعالی میشود. او در تمامی بحرانهای سرنوشت‌ساز (از رد پیشنهاد سودابه و گذر داوطلبانه از آتش تا انتخاب صلح‌آمیز و پذیرش شهادت) همواره بر اساس اصالت، خرد و وجدان اخلاقی عمل کرده و مؤلفه های هفت‌گانه را به وضوح بروز داده است. کشمکشهای روانی او نه تنها مانع پیشرفت، بلکه محرکی پویا برای دستیابی به خودِ حقیقی و پایبندی به ارزشهای برتر بوده است. نتیجه گیری: بر اساس یافته ها، سیاوش نمونه ای شاخص از فرد خودشکوفا در روانشناسی انسانگراست. او با غلبه بر فشارهای محیطی، با اراده ای آگاهانه و مسئولانه مسیر اخلاقی خویش را برگزید و به بالاترین سطح کمال شخصیت دست یافت. شهادت او نه نشانه شکست، بلکه اوج تعالی روحی و تجلی کامل ظرفیتهای بالقوه انسانی اوست.فردوسی, سیاوش, روانشناسی انسانگرا, خودشکوفایی.Ferdowsi, Siyavash, Humanistic Psychology, Self-Actualizationhttps://bahareadab.com/downloadPDF/2004.pdfhttps://bahareadab.com/downloadPDF/2004.pdfhttps://bahareadab.com/article/پژوهشی در سطح فکری داستان سیاوش؛ تحلیل داستان بر اساس روانشناسی انسانگراhttps://bahareadab.com/en/article/Analysis of the Story of Siyavash Based on Humanistic Psychology and the Principle of Self-Actualization
